Projects

I play with the following bands:

Ellister Three

with Vincent Koning (guitar) and Uli Glassmann (bass). Two great guys to work with! When I was still a student on the conservatory I used to play in this kind of setup fairly often. It’s such a great way of playing together! Especially because it’s so flexible with only three people to work with. Definitely something I am very happy with. [Go to page]

Triplicate

Also a drumless trio, this one consisting of trumpet, piano and double bass. Some people might call it chamber jazz but yes it does have a swinging groove! We have carefully chosen our repertoire. To name a few composers: Kenny Wheeler , Ceder Walton, Billy Strayhorn, Jimmy Heath... In the end of 2009 we played a successful tour in Ireland, now we're planning a cd recording with the famous dutch drummer Eric Ineke.[Go to page]

New Generation Big Band

a new Dutch big band made up of young musicians, mostly graduates from the Amsterdam Conservatory. The NGBB presents a new sound: Big-band music with a contemporary note. Funky, groovy rhythms with great horn sections distinguish the New Generation Big Band. [Go to page]

Alice in Dixieland

Have we argued about the name!!! This all female band has existed for already more than 25 years starting as a true dixieland band. Nowadays the repertoire varies from swing to bebop to mainstream. Our unique selling point is our close harmony singing. We have been travelling all around the world. In 2009 for instance we played in Switzerland, France, Germany, Portugal and Poland.[Go to page]

Leticia y su Rumbadama

This is an all female salsa band led by Leticia Bal on timbales (right on the picture) with Cuban singer Delia Gonzales (left on the picture). A swinging line-up with Mick Paauwe on the baby bass, Lilian Jarad on keys and Edith Mossel on Conga. Viktoria Bori forms the other half of the trumpet section.[Go to page]

More information will follow shortly. [Go to page]

Dim Kesber and Friends

October 16th, 2009 we presented a new cd with this band at the Kurhaus in Scheveningen. A phenomenal concert it was! Dim surrounds himself with old friends who know how to make each other sound great. With Vincent Koning (guitar), Rob van Kreeveld (piano), Dolf DelPrado (bass) and Martien Beenen (drums)[Go to page]

Dim Kesber and the Augmenters

with Vincent Koning (guitar), Jasper Soffers (piano), Noah Nicoll (double bass) and Barry Olthoff (drums). Dim – who kicked off his musical career in the fourties with the Dutch Swing College band – is still going strong. Stylisticly balancing between Swing and Bop this is a nice band with nice arrangements. [Go to page]

Jimmy Lunceford Legacy Orchestra

In 1999 Dutch-born [and brilliant!] sax-man and band-leader Robert Veen teamed up with a passionate ensemble of dedicated musicians to acquire the exclusive rights to use the original band charts and arrangements of the Jimmie Lunceford canon and sole permission to use Jimmie's name.."The Jimmie Lunceford [Legacy] Orchestra".
